This book grabbed me from the beginning. A young girl abandoned in the marshlands of North Carolina in the the 50's & 60's. She takes her life lessons from the land & nature. Beautifully written, love, mystery, survival & murder. Show more Show less
Captivating book.i couldn't put it down. Beautifully written from the marshes to the story of a little girl's survival and life
Loved this read! So descriptive and packed with emotion
A love story & murder mystery all rolled into one. Hated putting it down to make a cup of tea!
Wild and free, Kya has felt loneliness and isolation most of her life. Left to fend for herself, she is labelled the "Marsh Girl" and seen as an outcast by the wider community. Thriving to be accepted and loved, only betrayal awaits her. Along with this, the brutal, harsh reality of how people perceive her. Faced with tragic circumstances, Kyanite can only depend on herself to survive.

This story really relates to the need for people to have positive relationships in their lives. Having little contact with other people, Kya turns to her love for nature, the one consistency in her life. After several disappointments, she has to learn to trust again and realise there is always someone who cares.

A great read with an unexpected twist at the end!

Although for me this book took a while for me to fully engage in, once I did I just couldn’t stop . One of best books I have read in so long. Sensitive characters.. Exploring love, loss, human needs, trust, coming of age, the need for solitude. I enjoyed it and not overloaded with characters which is another plus for me. Show more Show less
